Personal Goals

Jacqui dreams of becoming a reporter that strengthens and heals people. She hopes to work closely with communities to help expose injustice through her reporting and help fight for a more equitable society.

She wishes to touch the hearts of many through her words, to dare to be vulnerable, and to help people see parts of themselves in the stories she writes.

Jacqui has struggled extensively trying to connect with her indigenous roots after generations of colonization and assimilation. Like many in the United States, she was force fed capitalist propaganda that made it difficult to embrace her ancestry.

Her heart-wrenching revelations have fueled her spirit to keep telling stories that center the humanity of the people most impacted by systems of oppression in hopes that others begin their souls journey towards collective liberation.

After gaining many years of experience in the field and in life, she wants to become a social justice journalism professor.

She will teach her students the importance of using their voice to go against the status quo and how they must understand history in order to change the present as well as honor the lessons of the many freedom fighters who came before.

Jacqui would also like to write a book one day and connect with with what drew her soul to storytelling in the first place.

“We must consider the impact of our decisions on the next seven generations.”
